Grandparents and Grandkids: A Love That Spans Generations

From the very first conversation with Peggy Tavener, I felt as though I’d made a new friend. Peggy is warm, engaging, and radiates positivity—it’s easy and a joy to talk with her. During that initial chat, she mentioned her business in Incline Village, Nevada: Lady Margaret’s Tea Room, where she not only hosts tea parties but also teaches etiquette. It all made perfect sense —Peggy’s charm and grace are exactly what you’d imagine for someone who runs such a place.

Fast forward to the day of our photo session at Galena Creek Forest. Peggy arrived with her husband, Dave, and their three grandchildren, and it was immediately clear that her whole family shares that same thoughtful, kind-hearted spirit.

Dave was as gracious as Peggy, and their grandchildren were a complete delight—polite and so much fun to photograph! It was easy to see how close they all are; every interaction felt so genuine and full of warmth.

Grandparent Photo Sessions Are Such A Treat!

We arrived to Galena Creek Park right after a light rain. The clouds were just parting to reveal a blue sky. The kids were happy to be there. They asked me what kind of animals were there. I replied, "Chipmunks, mostly." They were determined to find signs of something bigger, like a moose or bear. As we walked the snowy trail, they looked for animal prints and broken branches.

The Perfect Backdrop For Family Photography

We had our pick of snowy scenes and glistening, wet pine needle forest ground. With the light cloud cover, all the colors were beautifully saturated, including this little guy's red hair!

Beautiful Connections Captured at Galena Creek

We spent the afternoon capturing hugs, laughter, and candid moments that reflected their close relationships. The kids brought so much energy and joy, and Peggy and Dave clearly enjoyed this outing with them.

This session was a beautiful reminder of why I love family photography—it’s about more than just pictures; it’s about capturing the connections and stories. Peggy, Dave, and their grandchildren made it such a joyful experience and I love that this comes through in the photos. These are memories captured in photos that these children will treasure for years to come.
